RAPPER N6 WARNS AGAINST PLANNED WITHDRAWAL OF MILITARY FROM NYSC CAMP
Nigerian rapper and media personality N6 has raised concerns over reports suggesting that military personnel may be withdrawn from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps across the country. He warned that such a move could expose corps members to increased security threats, particularly cult-related violence.
Reacting to the development, N6 argued that the presence of soldiers in NYSC camps has played a vital role in maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of corps members during the three-week orientation programme. According to him, the military presence serves as a strong deterrent against criminal activities.
The rapper expressed fears that removing military personnel from the camps could embolden cult groups and other criminal elements, potentially leading to a rise in violence within and around the orientation centres. He stressed that corps members, many of whom are away from home for the first time, deserve maximum protection.
N6 further urged the relevant authorities to carefully reconsider any decision that could weaken security arrangements at NYSC camps. He maintained that safeguarding the lives of young Nigerians participating in the national service scheme should remain a top priority.
His comments have sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians sharing mixed opinions. While some agreed that military personnel contribute significantly to camp security, others argued that other security agencies could effectively handle the responsibility if properly equipped.
As discussions continue, there has been no official confirmation regarding any nationwide withdrawal of military personnel from NYSC orientation camps. The debate, however, has once again drawn attention to the importance of ensuring adequate security for corps members throughout their service year.
