I CHEATED ON MY HUSBAND BECAUSE I NEVER LOVED HIM, I MARRIED HIM FOR MONEY — LADY DEFENDS HERSELF

People have called me wicked, shameless and heartless.

Maybe they are right. But before anyone judges me, I think people should understand that my marriage was built on a lie from the very beginning. I never loved my husband. When he asked me to marry him, I saw security. I saw comfort. I saw the life I had always wanted. He was wealthy, successful and generous. At the time, I convinced myself that love would eventually come. It didn’t. I married him because I was tired of struggling. I wanted a better life, and he offered me one. I know how terrible that sounds, but I was being honest with myself.

The problem was that after the wedding, I realised money could buy almost everything except the feeling I truly wanted.

I felt trapped in a beautiful life. Then I met someone else. He did not have my husband’s money. He could not give me expensive gifts or take me on luxurious vacations. But when I was with him, I felt something I had never felt in my marriage. I felt wanted.

I felt alive. That is how the cheating started. I’m not saying cheating was the right thing to do. Looking back, I know I should have ended my marriage instead of betraying my husband. But I also believe people are pretending not to understand why unhappy people sometimes make terrible decisions. My husband gave me everything except love, but the truth is, I never gave him love either. I was wrong for cheating. I accept that. But I also think I was wrong for marrying someone I knew I didn’t love simply because I wanted his money.

My biggest mistake wasn’t the affair. My biggest mistake was believing I could build a lifetime with someone when my heart was never in the relationship. Now everything is falling apart, and I have nobody to blame but myself.

Money gave me the wedding I wanted, the house I wanted and the lifestyle I wanted. But it couldn’t give me a happy marriage.

And perhaps that is the price I am paying for choosing comfort over love.
