MEN ARE TERRIBLE: MY BEST FRIEND’S HUSBAND ASKED ME TO SLEEP WITH HIM — ANGRY LADY SHARES
I never imagined that the man I trusted enough to call my best friend’s husband would be the reason I would start avoiding her home.
My best friend and I have known each other for over fifteen years. We have shared secrets, birthdays, heartbreaks, family problems and some of the most important moments of our lives.
When she got married, I was genuinely happy for her.
Her husband seemed like a decent man. I respected their marriage and treated him like a brother.
That changed a few months ago.
It started with casual messages. At first, he would send things like, “How are you doing?” or “Hope you’re fine.” I didn’t think anything of it because there was nothing unusual about being friendly.
Then the messages became different. He started complimenting my appearance. I ignored it.
Then he began telling me things about his marriage that I never asked to hear.I told him clearly that I wasn’t comfortable with the conversation and reminded him that I was his wife’s best friend.
I thought that would be enough.
It wasn’t. One evening, he sent me a message that left me staring at my phone in disbelief.
He asked me if I would sleep with him. I genuinely thought he was joking.I asked him what kind of question that was, and instead of apologising, he started trying to convince me that it wasn’t a big deal.
He told me nobody would find out. He told me he had always been attracted to me.Then he said something that broke my heart for my friend: “She doesn’t have to know.” That was the moment I realised this wasn’t a harmless mistake or a badly worded joke.
He was willing to betray his wife and expected me to help him do it.
I immediately stopped responding. But now I’m angry. Not just because he approached me, but because he put me in a position where keeping quiet would mean protecting his secret while hurting my best friend. She has no idea what her husband has been saying to me. Every time I see her laughing and talking about her marriage, I feel guilty because I know something she doesn’t.
I don’t know what hurts more that her husband could do this behind her back, or that he thought I would betray my best friend just because he asked. People always talk about women betraying each other, but sometimes the person you need to watch isn’t your friend. Sometimes it’s the person sitting beside her, pretending to be a good husband.
I haven’t decided how I’m going to tell her yet.But one thing is certain: I will not sleep with her husband, and I will not become the secret he carries behind her back.
Fifteen years of friendship means more to me than whatever he thought he was offering.
And honestly?Men are terrible.
