Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has opened up about his career choices, revealing why he prioritizes performing in Ghana over chasing international deals
Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has opened up about his career choices, revealing why he prioritizes performing in Ghana over chasing international shows like some of his peers.
Speaking about his financial success, Shatta Wale explained that Ghana has played the biggest role in his rise to wealth. He emphasized that he became rich through the respect and opportunities he receives at home, noting that the country’s appreciation for music and entertainment allows him to thrive.
“I didn’t get rich anywhere, I got rich in Ghana,” he said, highlighting the immense respect he enjoys from political leaders, ministers, event organizers, and fans across the nation.
According to him, the treatment he receives in Ghana is comparable to the respect global icons such as Jay-Z and Beyoncé receive internationally. He added that organizers in Ghana ensure his shows are properly funded and professionally executed, enabling him to earn as much as $1 million per performance.
Shatta Wale further explained that the earnings from his shows in Ghana have sustained him comfortably for more than a decade. He contrasted this with overseas offers, noting that promoters in cities like London often offer him between £20,000 and £30,000 per show—figures he considers far below his worth compared to what he earns at home.
