CAN DECLARES JUNE 4, 2026 AS “BLACK SUNDAY” TO HONOR VICTIMS OF TERRORIST ATTACK
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared June 14, 2026 as “Black Sunday” to honor victims of terrorism and violent attacks across the country. This solemn commemoration is part of a three-day prayer program scheduled from June 12 to June 14, seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, urged the Federal Government to take decisive action by declaring a state of emergency on insecurity. He further called for the establishment of state police and the decentralization of the security system to ensure faster and more effective responses to threats nationwide.
In his statement, Archbishop Okoh emphasized the urgent need for the release of kidnapped victims and justice for those affected by ongoing violence. He stressed that the prayers and observances during Black Sunday are not only acts of remembrance but also a collective cry for peace, safety, and accountability.
