THIS IS THE TIME TO UNITE AS ONE, NOT BLAME THE PRESIDENT OR GOVERNOR. SECURITY AGENCIES ARE WORKING TIRELESSLY — GOV SEYI MAKINDE ADDRESSES PROTESTERS
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has called on residents to remain united in the face of recent security challenges, urging them not to blame any level of government for the crisis.
Speaking during an address to protesters, Makinde stressed that the current situation requires collective effort rather than accusations. He explained that both federal and state authorities are working tirelessly to restore peace and ensure the safety of citizens.
According to him: “So it’s not the time for us to say, well, it is the president that should have handled this, it is the governor or the local government. This is the time to pull together as one.”
Makinde described the perpetrators of the attacks and kidnappings as abnormal individuals, noting: “We’re not dealing with normal human beings. Just think briefly, how will somebody take a fellow human being and slaughter him? Is that somebody that is normal?”
He appealed to students, teachers, and workers to trust the government’s ongoing efforts, assuring them that coordinated security operations are underway to secure the release of those affected. He also warned against divisive actions, emphasizing that unity remains the strongest response to the crisis.
