I’LL NEVER TAKE CARE OF MY MOTHER” – 21-YEAR-OLD NIGERIAN MAN RECOUNTS FAMILY ORDEAL, BACKS FATHER’S DECISION TO SEEK DIVORCE

A 21-year-old Nigerian man has stirred widespread reactions on social media after declaring that he would never take care of his mother, as he shared the painful experiences that allegedly led to the collapse of his parents’ marriage.

According to the young man, his father had always warned him never to marry a woman out of pity, saying he regretted doing so himself.

He claimed the marriage was troubled from the beginning, alleging that his father became violent after discovering that his mother had secretly terminated a pregnancy.

The situation reportedly took a different turn in 2013 when his father travelled to China, where he was later imprisoned for 12 years due to circumstances the narrator did not disclose.

Despite being incarcerated, the father allegedly continued to provide for his family from prison. According to the young man, his father instructed his mother to sell only one of his cars to cover their school fees.

However, he claimed that his mother sold all of his father’s properties and moved the family into a less expensive house without his approval.

He further alleged that although his father did not strongly object, communication between the couple gradually deteriorated. He said his mother often ignored his father’s calls from prison and, on one occasion, reportedly told him not to stay in China and dictate how she should live her life in Nigeria before ending the conversation.

The young man also claimed that when his mother later informed his father that the family’s house rent was due, his father sent money to cover the rent from prison. After receiving the funds, he alleged that she stopped answering his calls completely.

According to him, the marriage suffered another setback in 2017 when his mother allegedly became pregnant by another man. He claimed the pregnancy was discovered by a relative during his grandfather’s burial, after which his mother reportedly left and later terminated the pregnancy.

Now that his father has returned to Nigeria after serving his prison sentence, the young man said he encouraged his mother to contact him, but she refused, insisting that it was his father who should make the first move. He added that members of her family also shared the same opinion.

Expressing his disappointment, the 21-year-old said he has stopped speaking to his mother and supports his father’s reported decision to seek a divorce.

He also declared that he has no intention of caring for his mother in the future, adding that while his three younger siblings are free to support her if they choose, he has made up his mind not to.
