MR IBU’S SON ACCUSES STEPMOTHER OF SELLING LATE ACTOR’S PROPERTIES, ABANDONING OTHER CHILDREN
Fresh controversy has erupted within the family of late Nollywood actor Mr Ibu after one of his sons, Okafor Somtochukwu, publicly accused his stepmother, Stella Maris Okafor, of allegedly selling the late actor’s properties and excluding his other children from the proceeds.
In a video shared online, Somtochukwu identified himself as the third son and fourth child of the late actor. He said he decided to speak out after seeing a viral video of his stepmother appealing for financial assistance while speaking about the welfare of her children.
According to him, Stella Maris’ children are not the only children Mr Ibu left behind, insisting that the late actor had several children who have allegedly been neglected since his passing.
Somtochukwu claimed that after Mr Ibu’s death, his stepmother allegedly sold several of the actor’s properties, including a house in Lagos, another in Enugu, and a property in Asaba, without informing or involving the rest of the family.
He further alleged that despite repeatedly reaching out to her for financial assistance to pay for his WAEC examination and school fees, his requests were ignored. According to him, he remains unable to collect his WAEC result because the outstanding fees have not been cleared.
The young man also alleged that funds donated by Nigerians during Mr Ibu’s illness, as well as money left in the late actor’s bank accounts, were solely controlled by his stepmother.
Expressing his disappointment, Somtochukwu said he believes his late father would not be happy if he remained silent over the situation. He maintained that he only decided to speak publicly because he wanted people to hear what he described as “the other side of the story.”
His comments come shortly after Stella Maris Okafor made a public appeal for financial support, a move that generated sympathy from many Nigerians.
