A young Nigerian lady has sparked widespread reactions on social media after lamenting what she described as the death of traditional dating, claiming that many men no longer take women out on proper dates.

In a video making the rounds online, the lady wondered why many men now prefer inviting women straight to their homes instead of asking them out to restaurants, lounges, or other public places.

According to her, there was a time when a man who was interested in a woman would proudly invite her on a date, giving her the opportunity to dress up, enjoy a nice meal, and spend quality time getting to know each other.

“I don’t know if it’s just me or my fellow girls are also experiencing this,” she said. “These days, guys hardly take girls out.”

She humorously reminisced about the old dating experience, saying she would wear her finest dress, meet up with her admirer, eat whatever she wanted, enjoy drinks, even collect takeaway before returning home to sleep happily.

However, she said things have changed, as many men now seem interested only in asking women to visit their homes.

“All I hear these days is, ‘Come to my house,’ ‘When are you coming to visit me?’ or ‘Do you live alone?’ It’s as if they can’t leave their houses anymore,” she said jokingly.

The lady ended her rant with a lighthearted apology on behalf of women.

“If we ladies did anything wrong, we’re sorry. Please forgive us. We miss those days,” she added.

While many women agreed that intentional dating appears to be fading, others argued that the current economic situation has made regular dates more expensive. Some men also defended the trend, saying they prefer getting to know someone in a more relaxed setting before spending money on elaborate outings.
