An anonymous woman has shared how her marriage became strained after she cheated on her husband, admitting that she even threatened to do it again whenever he brought up the incident.
According to her, she and her husband had been having problems in their marriage long before she became involved with another man.
“My husband and I were constantly fighting. We stopped communicating properly, and I felt like we were only living together because of our responsibilities. I complained several times, but nothing changed.
“That was when I became close to another man. It started with conversations, but eventually, I cheated on my husband.
“He found out, and I knew I had hurt him. I apologized and explained how unhappy I had been, although I knew my problems in the marriage did not justify what I did.
“He decided to stay, but things have never been the same.
“Whenever we have an argument, he brings up the cheating. Even when we are discussing something completely different, he somehow finds a way to remind me that I betrayed him.
“I understand that I broke his trust, but sometimes I feel like he wants to punish me forever.
“Recently, we had another argument, and he started talking about how he could never trust me because I had cheated once.
“He said he believed I would eventually do it again.
“I got angry and told him, ‘If you keep making noise about it, I will actually do it again.’
“I knew immediately that what I said was wrong, but I was angry and tired of hearing about the same mistake.
“Since then, he has barely spoken to me. My family thinks I should apologize, while some of my friends believe I should leave the marriage if I no longer want to be faithful.
“The truth is, I don’t know what I want anymore. I know I hurt my husband, but I also don’t know how long we can continue living like this.
“Sometimes I wonder if a marriage can survive when one person cannot forget what happened and the other person is tired of being reminded of it.”
