I’M IN LOVE WITH MY DAD, I WISH MY MOM WOULD JUST PACK OUT SO I CAN HAVE HIM — ANONYMOUS GIRL SHARES
An anonymous young woman has shared a disturbing confession about her relationship with her father, admitting that she sometimes wishes her mother would leave their home so she could have her father all to herself.
According to her, she has always been extremely attached to her father, but her feelings have become complicated as she has grown older.
My dad has always been my favourite person in the family. When I was younger, I would follow him everywhere. He was the one I ran to whenever I was scared, and he always made me feel safe.
My mother used to laugh about how close we were, but things changed as I grew older.
I started becoming jealous whenever my parents spent time together. I hated seeing my dad give my mother attention, and sometimes I would deliberately interrupt them just so I could have him to myself.
At first, I thought it was normal because I was simply very attached to my father. But recently, I started realizing that my feelings had become unhealthy.
I don’t like it when my mother sits beside him. I don’t like watching them laugh together, and sometimes I even wish she would just pack out of the house.
I have caught myself thinking that if my mother wasn’t there, my dad would have more time for me.
One day, after my parents had an argument, my mother threatened to leave the house. Instead of feeling sad, a part of me felt relieved.
I remember thinking, ‘Maybe now I can finally have Dad to myself.’
That thought scared me.
“I knew immediately that something was wrong with the way I was thinking. My mother is my mother, and my father is my father. I shouldn’t be wishing for their marriage to end just because I don’t want to share my father’s attention.
“I haven’t told anyone about these feelings because I’m embarrassed. I’m scared people will misunderstand me or think there is something seriously wrong with me.
I love my father, but I know I need to learn how to have a healthy relationship with him without competing with my mother.
Sometimes loving someone deeply can become unhealthy when you don’t know where to draw the line. I think that’s the lesson I am finally beginning to understand.”
