FOOTBALLERS MAKE MORE MONEY THAN MUSICIANS- SINGER SKALES STIRS UP DEBATE ONLINE
Nigerian singer Skales recently weighed in on the long‑standing debate about whether musicians or footballers make more money. He argued that footballers enjoy more consistent earnings, even without being global superstars. In his words, “Omo na football money o,” highlighting the clear financial gap between both industries.
Skales explained that footballers can earn serious money simply by performing steadily, while the music industry is unpredictable and seasonal. He described long‑term relevance in music as “some divine thing,” giving props to artists who have managed to stay successful for years, but noting that such cases are rare.
By contrast, he emphasized that footballers can “cash out” just by playing well, regardless of fame. He also pointed out the massive off‑field opportunities available to players, citing a missed luxury jewelry deal worth over $300,000 tied to a young football star.
“You can imagine things that we don’t know about, that’s a different kind of money, man,” he said. Skales concluded by stressing that only a few Nigerian artists ever reach that level of wealth, while many are still “putting one or twos together.”
