MY WIFE WAS IN LABOUR WHILE I WAS IN THE RING- SINGER PORTABLE SHARES AFTER LOOSING FIGHT TO CARTER EFE

Afrobeats star Portable had one of the most eventful days of his career and personal life. On the same day he stepped into the ring for a celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe, his wife was in labor, preparing to welcome their child. The fight, part of the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event at Balmoral Hall in Lagos, ended in defeat for Portable, who later expressed frustration over what he described as an unfair outcome.

Yet, despite the disappointment in the ring, Portable’s joy was immeasurable when he learned that his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, had given birth to a healthy baby boy. Speaking about the moment, he said: “My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child.” His words captured the depth of his emotions, showing that no trophy or title could compare to the gift of fatherhood.

Omobewaji herself confirmed the news with gratitude, saying “Alhamdulillah” and revealing the baby’s name as Jamal Iremide, whom she lovingly called her “little blessing.” The timing of the birth added a dramatic twist to Portable’s day—while he was battling in the ring, his wife was enduring the labor process. Reflecting on this, Portable remarked: “She gave birth to a boy. I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two. You can have the belt.”

The singer’s comments highlight how deeply he values family over fame or accolades. For him, the arrival of Jamal was not just another milestone but a reminder of what truly matters. While the boxing match may have ended in defeat, Portable walked away with something far more precious—a new life to cherish, a son to raise, and a reason to celebrate beyond the spotlight.
