My name is Chiamaka(Picture not thesame as the story sharer) and I’m the last born of my family. I’ve always lived a life of pampering and luxury, because my siblings and parents spoiled me, so I never had to lift a finger to do any household chores. We had a maid and a cook, and I was free to focus on my studies and my own interests.

But then I met Chimezie, a successful businessman from Abia State, and my life took a dramatic turn. He was charming and loving, and I fell deeply in love with him. But as our relationship progressed, I began to realize that he had very different expectations from me.

He wanted me to cook and clean for him, and eventually, for his entire family. I tried to do it for him, out of love, but it was clear that I was not cut out for it. I’m a university graduate, for crying out loud! I have a career to pursue, not a life of domestic servitude.

But Chimezie wouldn’t budge. He kept saying that we would live with his parents after the wedding, and that I would have to adjust to their way of life. I was horrified. I had always envisioned a life of independence and freedom, not one of servitude and drudgery.

So, I made the difficult decision to call off the wedding. I know it may seem drastic, but I couldn’t bear the thought of giving up my autonomy and my dreams for a life of domesticity. I deserve better, and I know that I can find someone who loves and respects me for who I am.

I’m not ashamed to say that I’m a proud feminist, and I will not settle for anything less than equality and mutual respect in my relationships.
