Celebrity fashion designer and stylist Veekee James has emotionally opened up about the sacrifices her mother made after the death of her father, revealing how her decision not to remarry played a major role in shaping the woman she has become today.

Speaking during a recent interview, Veekee recounted that after losing her father, her mother chose to dedicate her life entirely to raising her three children, despite being encouraged by others to consider remarriage.

According to her, she never saw her mother in a relationship with another man while growing up.

“I’ve never seen my mom date any man before. The only time it looked like one uncle was talking to her, he didn’t even last. I didn’t know what happened, but their conversation just ended,” she said.

Veekee recalled that shortly after her father’s passing, a pastor in their church asked her mother if she intended to remarry, but she declined, saying she wanted to focus on raising her children.

“I remember when my dad passed, one of our pastors in church asked her, ‘Oh, are you going to remarry?’ She said no, that she’s never going to remarry because she wants to dedicate her life to raising her children,” she revealed.

The celebrity stylist went on to describe her mother as a hardworking and respected woman in Ajegunle, Lagos, noting that many people in their community knew her because of her dedication to different jobs and her tailoring business.

According to Veekee, it was through her mother that she learned the art of tailoring, a skill that eventually became the foundation of her successful career in fashion.

She also explained that her mother’s lifestyle became a powerful example that influenced the values she holds today.

“She always told me, ‘No follow man. No do like this.’ I could literally see her as an example. She’s raising three children, and she could have been going out with different men to support us, but I never saw my mom with any man,” she said.

Veekee admitted that whenever she is tempted to make certain relationship decisions, she often remembers her mother’s sacrifices and the discipline she displayed while raising her children.

Reflecting on her upbringing, she stressed that parents have a significant influence on their children, adding that the examples they set while raising them can shape the choices they make later in life.
