YOUR STATEMENT IS REALLY DISRESPECTFUL Phyna RESPONDS TO MONIEPOINT CEO’S REMARK ON NIGERIA WORKFORCE
Reality TV star Phyna has stirred conversation online after strongly criticizing comments made by Moniepoint’s CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, about Nigeria’s workforce. The CEO had suggested that job vacancies remain unfilled because of a lack of “smart Nigerians.” Phyna described the statement as “really, really disrespectful,” arguing that the issue is not intelligence but a system that undermines talent and rewards the wrong things.
According to her, Nigeria often forces people to abandon their brilliance just to survive. “This country can make you drop your intelligence just to be f+oling, because that’s what they notice,” she said, explaining how visibility and survival tactics are often valued more than substance.
Phyna revealed that she holds an engineering degree and graduated well, but has had to adapt to the country’s harsh realities. “If the country gets better now, I will drop all this my f+oling and dust my certificate, I have it,” she declared.
She emphasized that many capable Nigerians are sidelined not because they lack skills, but because of poor working conditions and low pay. Questioning the value of supposed vacancies, she noted, “I doubt anybody’s salary is ₦500,000. ₦500,000 cannot get you a decent place to stay in Nigeria.”
Drawing comparisons abroad, Phyna highlighted how better systems support workers in places like London. She described how people there can leave home around 8 a.m., walk to work, and still earn good money with fair treatment. “They are paid very, very well,” she said.
Phyna also pointed out how alternative income streams now compete with traditional jobs. “Somebody will stay on TikTok, and make over ₦500,000, and then this person will come and be working for you?” she asked, underscoring the shift in how people view work and income.
Frustrated by the daily realities of life in Nigeria, she added, “Wake up… same routine, you have to buy light, buy water, police will h©rass you.”
