Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has stirred reactions on social media after sharing his opinion on the widely accepted tradition of men kneeling to propose to women.
Taking to his page, the actor criticized the act, describing it as unnecessary and something men should avoid.
“If men know how stupid they look when they kneel to propose to a woman, they’ll never indulge in such crap,” he wrote. “Never you kneel to propose to a woman. Never.”
He further advised men to maintain their pride while proposing, emphasizing that they should stand confidently instead.
“Stand proudly like the king that you are and propose to her,” he added.
Yul also addressed situations where women may insist on the gesture, urging men to walk away from such relationships.
“If she says you must kneel down to propose to her or she leaves, let her go. Dump her. She doesn’t love you,” he stated.
According to him, a woman who truly loves a man would not require him to do something he considers degrading.
“Never make a fool of yourself because of a woman. Any woman who truly loves you will not watch you make a fool of yourself,” he concluded.
