OYEMYKKE URGES NIGERIANS TO WELCOME TYLA, SAYS MUSIC SHOULD UNITE AFRICA

Media personality and social commentator Oyemykke has appealed to Nigerians not to prevent South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla from performing in the country, insisting that music should be a bridge that unites Africans rather than fuels division.

His comments come amid growing calls on social media for Tyla’s proposed performance in Nigeria to be boycotted following recent diplomatic tensions and reports of xenophobic attacks involving Nigerians in South Africa. While some Nigerians have argued that South African artistes should face similar treatment in response to the attacks, Oyemykke believes such a move would only deepen existing divisions.

Oyemykke also stressed that Nigeria has long been known for its hospitality and should continue to welcome entertainers from across the continent. He argued that cultural exchange through music, entertainment, and the arts remains one of the strongest tools for promoting African unity.
