WE CAN’T SUSPEND OUR JOBS AND POST ABOUT KIDN@PPINGS DAILY— ACTRESS DAYO AMUSA SLAMS CRITICS OVER PRESSURE ON CELEBRITIES TO SPEAK ON NATIONAL ISSUES
Actress Dayo Amusa has spoken out strongly against the growing pressure on celebrities to constantly comment on national issues, particularly kidnappings. In a heartfelt post, she criticized the online bullying and trolling that many in the creative industry face when they choose to focus on their work instead of political commentary.
She explained that actors often take loans with high interest rates to fund their movies, yet are expected to suspend their professional commitments to post daily about kidnappings and curse the government. Amusa contrasted this with critics who, from the comfort of their offices, demand constant activism from entertainers.
Rejecting the mob mentality, she declared:
“The day I decided to start using this app actively, I’ve made up my mind that many of you trolls don’t matter! I won’t pander to mobs as I didn’t build my brand on it.”
She warned against trolling under her posts, stating she would not tolerate disrespect. Despite her frustration, Amusa expressed compassion for victims, praying for the safe return of kidnapped children and teachers in Oyo State.
