I DIDN’T KNEEL DOWN TO PROPOSE TO MY WIFE, WE ARE NOT BEGGING EACH OTHER – SINGER MADE KUTI FUEL’S ONLINE REACTIONS
Afrobeat singer Made Kuti has sparked widespread online debate after revealing that he did not kneel to propose to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso.
Speaking during an episode of the Timeless Podcast on Nix Network’s YouTube channel, the Grammy-nominated artist explained that his decision was rooted in the belief that marriage should be a mutual agreement rather than an act of pleading.
“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” Kuti stated.
The 30-year-old musician, who tied the knot with Onyenso in a private Lagos ceremony in November 2023, further revealed that his wife was once his school daughter. His unconventional stance on proposals has fueled conversations about cultural expectations, gender roles, and modern perspectives on marriage.
While some applauded his view as progressive and empowering, others criticized it as dismissive of tradition. The discussion continues to trend across social media, highlighting the evolving dynamics of love and partnership in contemporary Nigerian society.
