NOLLYWOOD IS FILLED WITH SABOTEURS- JIM IYKE SPEAKS ON INDUSTRY BETRAYAL

Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has stirred conversation across social media after speaking candidly about what he describes as one of the biggest threats to the Nigerian film industry, internal sabotage.

In a recent interview, the outspoken actor did not mince words as he shared his frustrations about the state of Nollywood. According to him, the industry is not only facing external challenges such as funding and distribution, but is also being held back by individuals within who deliberately undermine progress.

Iyke described these individuals as “saboteurs,” claiming their actions often go unnoticed but have far-reaching consequences on the growth and global competitiveness of Nollywood. He noted that rather than supporting one another, some stakeholders choose to frustrate efforts, block opportunities, and create unnecessary conflicts that weaken the industry from within.

Speaking further, the actor emphasized that if given the opportunity to make a major change, his priority would be to rid the industry of such negative influences. “If there is one thing I would love to change about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry,” he said. “The industry is full of saboteurs. They can’t help themselves. They need therapy.”

His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans and industry observers agree with his perspective, arguing that internal rivalry and lack of unity remain major setbacks, others believe his comments are too harsh and overly generalized.

Despite the controversy, Iyke’s statement has reignited an important conversation about accountability, collaboration, and the need for structural reform within Nollywood.
