Lady with bipolar disorder gets into undue frustration and commits suicide over nothing

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.


Awoshile a Lagos resident narrates how his daughter committed suicide after unnecessary frustrations, all due to bipolar disorder.


Awoshile said his daughter has always been a very lovely girl but one bad thing about her was that she was known for mood swing and unnecessary anger. Most of all this actions never had an explanation.


He also stated that he thought she was trying to act like a last born not knowing she is suffering internally, one of the days she woke up crying that nobody loves her, we tried to make her know we loved her but she kept on shouting “You don’t love me”. This was a concern but we all felt it was normal for a teenager to request for Love from parents.


This kind of scene went on and on until the day we came home and realized that she had written a suicide note and hanged herself. We were shocked and full of tears as we didn’t understand anything about Bipolar disorder but realized that she did understand her predicament and was seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist as we observed.


Now she is gone and we are just discovering what led to her death. “I will then like to advice parents to make the welfare of their kids number one priority and understand their movements, pains, disorders and health condition”, says Awoshile.
