William Oyeabor, the Nigerian Musician who d*ed in his Sleep – A True Life Story of a Legend.

William Ezechukwu Onyeabor was a Nigerian funk musician and businessman.His music was widely heard in Nigeria in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Oyeabor was very successful, yet, he kept his profile from the world, and remained private and humble.

Williams Oyeabor was born on March 26,1946, and died on January 16, 2017.

Williams Oyeabor was a good singer and songwriter who uses vocals and synthesizer.

Despite his poor humble background, Williams Onyeabor became financially successful enough to travel to Europe to study record manufacturing.

Some biographies claim that Williams studied cinematography in Russia, and on returning to Nigeria in the 1970s, he started his own Wilfilms music label.

Reports also claimed that Williams later set up a music firm. He was then later crowned a High Chief in Enugu, where he lived as a businessman working on government contracts and running his own semolina flour mill.

Williams was so successful to the extent of earning a name as a West African Industrialist of the Year, in 1987.

Williams Onyeabor’s songs are often heavily rhythmic and synthesized, occasionally epic in scope, with lyrics decrying war.

In the 2010s, some of his songs appeared on various compilations, most frequently his biggest hit, Better Change Your Mind, which appeared on African 100.

Williams Onyeabor had four children. One of his children, Charles Onyeabor, sings too.

Sadly, Williams Onyeabor died at his home town in Enugu, on January 17, 2017, at the age of 70 years, following a brief illness.
