I Am Always Shouting Phenomenal… But That Night, I Couldn’t Even Breathe- A Charles Okocha True life story

People see me shouting, flexing, tearing shirt, and dropping mad vibes online. But let me tell you something they don’t know…
I almost didn’t make it back.

I had just finished a movie shoot. Normal vibes. We gisted a bit. I stepped outside to take air. Next thing, I hear gunshots.
I froze. I no fit run. I didn’t even know I had been hit. A police officer allegedly drunk had opened fire. One bullet entered me. Just like that. I blacked out.

I woke up in a hospital, confused and shaking. Blood everywhere. Doctors telling me I needed surgery. Serious one. My life? Hanging by a thread.

They flew me to the U.S. I had three surgeries. I dey talk full chest today, but that period? Bros… I cried.

God,” I said, “if I die now, what happens to my kids? My mom? My dreams?”
I saw my life flash like one movie.
All the laughs, all the skits, all the fans- gone in a second.

That’s when I made up my mind. If God lets me come back, I go live loud. I go live happy. I go live phenomenal. Nobody Knows What You Battle in Silence

After surgery, I was scared to walk. I had to re-learn how to trust my own body again.

The world was shouting “Mr Phenomenal is back!”
But deep inside, I was healing from trauma.
PTSD. Fear. Anger. Confusion. But God no shame me. He lifted me. Strengthened me. Gave me fresh breath.

That’s why you see me now — tearing shirt, vibing, making the world laugh. It’s not just cruise. It’s survival. It’s gratitude. It’s LIFE.

Today I’m 49. But I Was Reborn at 44.
You dey see the energy? E no be for hype. E dey come from place of pain wey God turn to power.” I’m not just alive. I’m a walking testimony.

“Have you ever had a close call — a moment that changed how you see life forever? Let’s talk in the comments. Your survival might inspire someone else.”
