MY HEART STOPPED WHEN I CAUGHT MY NEIGHBOUR’S HUSBAND RAPING MY DOG – LADY BREAKS SILENCE

My name is Lady. I live in a quiet estate in Ikeja, Lagos. After my husband abandoned me, my dog became my only family my protector, my comfort, my everything.

Next door lived Sister Titi and her husband, Brother Dale. Sister Titi was kind; she brought soup when I was sick and greeted me with a warm smile. Brother Dale? He was always too quiet, always watching.

One Tuesday night, I came home early from work. My dog didn’t bark or run to me like always. I called his name nothing. Heart pounding, I rushed to the backyard.

The gate was open. Moonlight fell on a scene I will never forget.

Brother Dale was on top of my dog, shirtless, grunting, forcing himself on the helpless animal. My dog whimpered, legs kicking weakly, trying to escape. I screamed. Finally, I screamed.

Brother Dale jumped up, eyes wild, pulling up his trousers. “It’s not what you think!” he stammered, but I saw everything. My dog crawled away, trembling, tail between his legs.

I started running and I chased him out, shouting until neighbours came running. Someone called the police. Sister Titi arrived, saw the scene, and collapsed in tears.

The next day, the estate was on fire. Photos leaked. Blogs screamed: Reporters swarmed. Animal rights people came. The police took statements.

Brother Dale was arrested. Sister Titi packed her things and left for the village that same week. She hasn’t spoken to anyone since.

My dog wouldn’t eat for days. I took him to the vet he had injuries, trauma, fear in his eyes. He still flinches when men come near.

This is not love. This is not loneliness. This is evil.

Let this be a warning to every dog owner: Watch your pets. Watch your neighbours. Evil hides behind smiles.
