My Colleagues Thought I Kidnapped Myself for Money — Prince Eke Breaks His Silence.

In December 2015, I faced a nightmare that nearly ended my life. I was driving back from a film shoot in Rivers State, along Ubima Road, when suddenly I was ambushed by heavily armed men.

They dragged me away, demanded a ransom of ₦15 million, and threatened to bury me alive if their demands were not met. Those days in captivity were the darkest of my life.

I was beaten, humiliated, and left wondering if I would ever see my family again. It was truly hell on earth.
But even after I survived that ordeal, the pain didn’t end. What cut me deepest was not the hands of the kidnappers it was the betrayal of those I called colleagues and friends.

Instead of standing by me, many of them spread rumors that I had staged my own kidnapping just to raise money. Imagine surviving such trauma, only to be accused of orchestrating it yourself.

That broke me in a way bullets and beatings never could.
Years later, I still remember the whispers, the disbelief, the side-eyes at industry events.

The hardest truth I learned was that sometimes, the people closest to you will doubt your pain and question your truth faster than strangers ever will.
But I refused to let their doubts define me.

I came out of that experience stronger, with scars that remind me every day of resilience. My story is not just about survival it’s about betrayal, faith, and the strength to rise when even those around you want to pull you down.

Have you ever gone through something painful, only for people to doubt your truth? How did you handle it?
