A True Life Story

How I Escaped From Kidna*ppers On My Way To Enugu, Lady narrates

I had never been to the East before but had to attend my friend’s wedding, which was to take place in Ebonyi.

For the first time, I traveled by flight, which my friend had booked. She took care of everything I needed to ensure my journey was hitch-free.

After the wedding, a guy who had a crush on my newly wedded friend’s best friend sent his driver to pick us up from the village to Enugu. He planned to spend some time with her.

We left a bit late, around 7 pm, after the driver came. In the car, there were four ladies, the driver and the man interested in my newly wedded friend’s best friend, making a car.

From the way the driver drove, I quickly noticed that he didn’t know the road, so I and the remaining ladies in the car started pretending like we knew the road to Enugu.

We used Google Maps to help us locate the place without the guy’s guidance because we already had little doubts about him.

After some while, we noticed we were lost, so we had to rely on the guy’s guidance for help, even though we knew he was taking us through a longer route.

So, the guy at the back of the car dropped off at a nearby location, leaving only us and the driver.

The car then broke down until we found ourselves in a hotel that was confirmed to be spied on by kidnappers.

I started crying, along with the other ladies with me, because we knew how ruthless these kidnappers could be.

As luck would have it, we somehow escaped through the bush.

That day, I told myself I would never travel by night anymore.
